We all need time in nature, but did you know that there is a beautiful nature preserve in Decatur? Lullwater Preserve on Emory University’s campus features a 2.4 mile urban hike filled with a pedestrian suspension bridge over the south fork of Peachtree Creek, mill ruins, Candler Lake, wildlife and grassy areas for picnics.
You will also see Lullwater House, a 1926 Tudor mansion built by the Candler family and designed by Ivey and Crook, which is now home to Emory University presidents.
The park is open during daylight hours with the main entrance off Clifton Road.
Although the main entrance is 1463 Clifton Road, parking is most easily found at The Clifton Center (1900 Starvine Way, Decatur, GA 30033), after 6pm weekdays and on weekends, or The VA Medical Center (1670 Clairemont Ave, Decatur, GA 30030).
