First, a little update. If you haven’t driven up Roswell Road lately, you will be very surprised. Sandy Springs is on the move. Since its formation in 2005, it has been a model of efficiency and positioned itself to be attractive to corporations seeking to locate within its boundaries.
Located at a transportation crossroads, Sandy Springs has capitalized on its two MARTA stations, parlaying them as a springboard for development. It’s currently home to four Fortune 500 companies, the massive Mercedes-Benz USA corporate campus, and the 3-tower State Farm campus which will employ 8000 workers. Both the Mercedes-Benz and State Farm campuses have become magnets for surrounding development.
Sandy Springs’ leaders have addressed its old image of a soulless and poorly planned, sprawling suburb in a big way by luring companies who can increase the tax base so that a sweeping array of amenities such as the city center and ever-increasing park system can be added.
City Springs, the new civic and cultural center will contain City Offices, a Performing Arts Center, a studio theater, meeting space, retail and residential spaces, a city green and underground community parking.
Already, performances are scheduled from the Atlanta Ballet and Atlanta Opera, and the newly formed City Springs Theatre Company and more announcements are upcoming including plans for arts education and a wide variety of events.
So, what can you buy in Sandy Springs for around $725,000? Here are three representative homes which sold in the past year. All are in the Heards Ferry Elementary school district and all pictures are courtesy of Georgia MLS.
