Vinings residents will have to wait for the Whole Foods, Fresh Market or Trader Joe’s they long for. Fuqua Development assembled properties including, and adjacent to, the former Cumberland United Methodist Church (Paces Ferry Road and 285) for the purpose of developing a multi-use project that would have combined town homes, senior-living apartments, a coffee shop and an organic grocery rumored to be Fresh Market. The Paces Homeowners Alliance, with the assistance of Commissioner Bob Ott, fought this project to protect against commercial development and increased traffic.
The new plan eliminates Fuqua and the adjacent properties. Town homes priced in the low $700,000s will be built on the Cumberland UMC site only.
