Cobb County: Empty Nester Haven for those over 62

over 62 exemption Cobb County Your 62nd birthday is a very happy one in Cobb County. Homeowners who are 62 years of age on or before January 1 are entitled to an exemption from all taxes in the school general and school bond tax categories which represents roughly 65-75% of the average tax bill. Pretty significant! It’s not surprising that houses with a master on the main level in Vinings and close-in Smyrna are very popular and sell quickly when accurately priced and in put in top market condition.

If you are 62 or over, and already a Cobb County resident on January 1, you must file for your exemption by April 1. Applications are available online and may be mailed, or presented in person at one of three Cobb County Government locations. A copy of your driver’s license is your proof of age. Easy isn’t it!
